Fools Diary Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

This policy explains what data the Fools Diary app collects, what we use it for, who we share it with and how you can delete all of it. It covers the app. The Fools immersions and online classes follow their own Terms and Contracts (in Portuguese).

1. Who is responsible

The Fools Educação Ltda. ("The Fools"), CNPJ 18.266.226/0001-02, Rua Bento Gonçalves, 3115, Guarani, Novo Hamburgo/RS, Brazil, ZIP 93520-573.

For anything about privacy, write to [email protected].

2. What we collect

  • Account: the e-mail and the identifier of the Google or Apple account you sign in with. The app does not ask for your name. If you are already a The Fools participant, we link the app account to your existing record by e-mail.
  • Recordings: the audio of each diary entry and what we generate from it: the verbatim transcript, the marked passages (mistakes and hesitations), the scores and the follow-up texts.
  • Preferences: the language you practise, the app language, the modes you turn on (work topics, mini-immersion) and your location, if you type one.
  • Consents: your answers on the "Before you record" screen, with the date and the version of the text.
  • Subscription: when you subscribe to Premium, Apple sends us the signed purchase data: transaction identifiers, plan, price, currency, dates and status. We never receive your card details; Apple takes and processes the payment.
  • Device: the notification token (if you allow notifications), the app version and the device name iOS reports at sign-in.
  • App usage: a few events, such as opening the Premium screen, starting, completing or restoring a purchase, and sharing a milestone.
  • Technical logs: errors and server logs, to keep the service running.

The app has no advertising tracking, no advertising identifier and no third-party analytics. We do not sell your data. We do not use your voice to identify you.

3. What we use it for

  • Running the app: creating your account, keeping your diaries, showing your history and progress. Legal basis: performing the service you asked for (Brazil's LGPD, art. 7, V).
  • Transcribing and analysing your recordings to build your report. Legal basis: your consent (art. 7, I), asked before your first recording. Without it, the app does not record.
  • Research to improve the method, with anonymised data: only if you turn on the optional "Use for research" setting.
  • Premium subscription: confirming the purchase with Apple, unlocking the plan and keeping financial records. Legal basis: performing the contract and complying with legal obligations (art. 7, II and V).
  • Notifications ("your diary is ready"): only if you allow them on your iPhone.
  • Improving the product and protecting the service: aggregate metrics, fixing errors and preventing abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest (art. 7, IX).

4. Who we share it with

Only with the providers that run the service for us, for the purposes above:

  • DigitalOcean (USA): servers, database and audio storage. Receives all the app's data.
  • Groq, OpenAI and Deepgram (USA): transcription. Receive the audio of the recording.
  • Anthropic (USA): analysis of the text, titles and follow-up questions. Receives the transcript.
  • Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and delivery of notifications. Receives the account identifier, the purchase data and the notification token.
  • Google: Sign in with Google. Receives the account identifier and the e-mail.
  • Sentry (USA): error monitoring. Receives technical data about the error.

We use transcription and analysis through APIs, under terms in which these providers do not use the data we send to train their models. We may also share data when the law or an authority requires it.

5. Transfers outside Brazil

Our servers and most providers are outside Brazil, mainly in the United States. Data is transferred to provide the service you use, to providers that apply appropriate security measures (LGPD, art. 33).

6. How long we keep it

  • Diaries and audio: until you delete them. We keep the audio so we can reprocess an entry when you ask.
  • Account: until you delete it.
  • After you delete your account: the account and everything in it are deleted immediately. Database backups expire on their own within 30 days.
  • Subscription records: kept, no longer linked to you, for the period of tax obligations and because Apple keeps billing until the subscription is cancelled.
  • Technical logs: for as long as needed to run and protect the service.

7. How to delete your data

  • One entry: open the entry and tap Delete.
  • Your whole account: Profile → Delete account. It deletes the account, every diary and recording, and signs out all your devices. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the app's access to your Apple account.
  • Subscription: deleting the account does not cancel Premium, because Apple handles the billing. Cancel it on your iPhone in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
  • Immersions and classes: registrations and payments made with The Fools outside the app are not deleted with the app account. For those, write to the e-mail above.

8. Your rights

Under the LGPD (art. 18) you can confirm whether we process your data, access it, correct it, ask for anonymisation, blocking or deletion, ask for portability, learn who we share it with, withdraw consent and object to processing. Ask at [email protected]; we answer within 15 days. You can also complain to Brazil's data protection authority (ANPD) or to the authority where you live.

9. Security

All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Recordings sit in private storage and only open through links that expire in one hour. The app's access to your account is kept in the iPhone Keychain and, on our servers, only in hashed form. Nobody on our team listens to your recordings.

10. Children and teenagers

The app is not directed at children. If you are under 18, use it with the permission of your parent or guardian.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will say so in the app or on this page, with the new date at the top.
